Sports Direct announces board changes

Sports Direct has appointed former Nike executive David Daly as a non-executive director.

Due to join the board and the audit committee on 2 October, Daly has over 30 years’ international experience in the sporting goods industry. Having worked for Nike until his retirement in 2015, his most recent role was senior director for Nike’s Club and Federation Business based in Amsterdam. He is also a non-executive director of Fulham Football Club.

Keith Hellawell, chairman of Sports Direct, said: “I am delighted that David will be joining Sports Direct as a non-executive director, he will bring very relevant industry expertise and experience to the board.”

Sports Direct has also revealed that non-executive director Dave Singleton informed the board on 11 July that he will not stand for re-election at the company’s AGM on 6 September 2017. Singleton has served on the board since 2007.

Hellawell added: “Dave’s skills and expertise will be greatly missed by the company. I wish him every success in his future endeavours.”
