JD Sports prepares to put Go Outdoors into administration

JD Sports has said it is exploring options for its Go Outdoors business and has confirmed that it has started the process of putting it into administration.

The announcement follows recent speculation about the future of the business.

In a statement issued this morning, JD Sports said: “The group can confirm that it has considered a number of strategic options for Go and that Go’s directors have lodged the notice in court. This notice creates an immediate moratorium around the company and its property which lasts for ten business days. During this moratorium, Go’s creditors cannot take legal action or continue with any existing legal proceedings against the company without the court’s permission.”

Administrators have not yet been appointed but it is understood that Deloitte may have been lined up to handle the process.

JD Sports acquired Go Outdoors for £112 million in 2016 and at the time said the business would complement its Blacks and Millets camping brands. The business employs around 2,400 people across 67 stores.
