JD Sports appoints new non-exec director to succeed Andy Rubin
JD Sports has announced that Andy Rubin has stepped down as a non-executive director and been succeeded by Andy Long.
Long is currently an executive director at Pentland Group and was previously chief executive of Pentland Brands until the end of 2020. Prior to joining Pentland, he held senior finance roles at Boots and Procter and Gamble .
Pentland owns a 51.9% stake in JD Sports and also owns the Berghaus, Canterbury, Ellesse, Endura, KangaROOS, Kickers, Lacoste, Mitre, Red or Dead, SeaVees and Speedo brands.
Peter Cowgill, executive chairman of JD Sports, said: “I would like to thank Andy Rubin for his valuable contribution to the board over the last five years at JD, which has been a period of substantial growth of the group in geographic reach, turnover and profitability.
