Yorkshire to welcome big new shopping centre
Plans have been unveiled for the building of a new 600,000 square foot shopping centre in West Yorkshire.
Situated in Castleford, the Axiom scheme will be the largest out-of-town shopping centre to be built in England so far this century and will include 75 units.
Retailers taking space in the scheme include the likes of Marks & Spencer, Next, Primark and Boots. The shopping centre will be complemented by an adjacent Designer Outlet centre called ‘Junction 32’ and an XSCAPE leisure and entertainment area.
State-of-the-art digital infrastructure will be used throughout the centre, including LED screens and façades.
The scheme is being developed by Lateral Property Group and Highgrove Group with Chapman Taylor acting as lead architect.
With planning permission already in place, construction will begin this year with a target opening date of 2021.
