Westfield London to launch venue and event space
The owner of Westfield London has announced that the shopping centre is to add a new venue and events space to its offering.
Set to open at the end of 2019, the space will host high-profile live music events, brand experiences, product launches, exhibitions, conferences, award ceremonies and community events. It will be called Exhibition due to its proximity to the site of the Franco British Exhibition of 1908.
Spanning two floors and 34,000 square feet, the venue will have a total standing capacity of 3,000 and feature multiple rooms, formats and configurations. It will also include a number of adaptable relaxation areas with space for onsite food and drinks vendors,
Exhibition will be housed in the Grade II listed Dimco East building which was built in 1899 as an electricity generating station for the London Underground. More recently, it has been used as a bus garage as part of TFL’s White City bus station.
Westfield owner Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield is partnering with Printworks London owner Broadwick Venues on the project. In addition to being responsible for creating the concept, brand identity and design of Exhibition, Broadwick Venues will operate the space going forward.
Michel Dessolain, chief operating officer Europe for Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, said: “Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield creates unique and innovative destinations globally where our customers can shop, dine, be entertained and connect. Our partnership with Broadwick Venues, one of the biggest players in the events industry in the UK, and through the support of London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, will deliver an amazing new entertainment experience and will be a leading new events venue in London.”
