Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City attract 350,000 shoppers on Boxing Day
Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield has reported that more than 350,000 people visited its Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City shopping centres on Boxing Day. This was an increase of 9% on the same day last year.
The company said this year’s festive period has been the centres’ busiest ever with 8.8 million visiting since Black Friday. This was almost 12% higher than in 2017.
Over 1.2 million people visited the destinations across the four days from Friday to Christmas Eve while Saturday 22 December was their busiest day of the year with almost 370,000 visitors.
Myf Ryan, chief marketing officer for Europe and group director of brand and strategic marketing for Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, said: “Footfall across both our London destinations throughout Nov and December has been extremely strong, with double-digit year-on-year growth, and we’ve enjoyed our busiest ever Christmas shopping period for the centres with 8.8 million visitors since Black Friday. Now we’re looking forward to a busy start to the New Year and creating the very best experiences in shopping including Westfield London’s newest Home Quarter, dining, leisure and entertainment for the millions of people we look forward to welcoming in 2019.”
Westfield London celebrated its tenth anniversary in October following a £600 million expansion. In November Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield revealed that Westfield Stratford City had attracted a record 50 million visitors in the past year.
