St David’s launches ‘Made in Wales’ campaign
The owners of the St David’s shopping centre in Cardiff have launched a new initiative to support local retail businesses.
Run by the St David’s Partnership, the ‘Made in Wales’ scheme offers companies and entrepreneurs the opportunity to win space for a pop-up store with a six-month lease.
With the results being announced in September, the winning brand will occupy their store from 1 October to 31 March. While being given the freedom to transform the space as they wish, the brand will also receive full media and marketing support from St David’s.
Speaking on behalf of the St David’s Partnership, Russell Loveland, senior portfolio director for Landsec, said: “We wanted to find a way to support local businesses and the ‘Made in Wales’ initiative provides brands with a chance to build and grow. The ‘Made in Wales’ competition is a chance for us to work with the local community and we look forward to seeing entries from many the exciting retail brands.”
The initiative is being judged by a panel from Landsec, joint owners of St David’s, and is also being rolled out to Kent’s Bluewater and the Trinity shopping centre in Leeds.
Entries will be open until 10 August and application forms can be downloaded via the St David’s website.
