Salford Shopping Centre hires new centre manager

Salford Shopping Centre has announced the appointment of Rory Fleming as centre manager.

With almost 30 years’ experience, Fleming has spent the last 10 years at Morgan Quarter in Cardiff where he oversaw the the win of two Green Apple Awards for environmental best practice and a Purple Apple Award for marketing. He has also previously headed up the Beacon Shopping Centre in Newcastle and Queen Street Shopping Centre in Darlington.

Built in 1972, Salford Shopping Centre has 81 shopping units and is home to a range of high-street retailers as well as smaller, independent stores.

The centre’s plans for 2023 include a number of community outreach projects and an expansion of artist exhibitions and community-led cultural events throughout the year.

Speaking on his appointment, Fleming said: “The focus on community inclusion very much aligns with my vision and goals for the future and I can’t wait to get started on implementing some ideas which get to the heart of the Salford community. From working with local artists to supporting the retail vendors, and of course, our shoppers, I’m excited to see what the future holds for Salford.”
