Meadowhall announces 42,000 square feet of upsizes by trio of brands
Meadowhall has announced a trio of deals where JD Sports, Superdrug and Ann Summers will grow their combined space at the centre to 42,278 square feet.
JD is upsizing by taking five adjacent units to create a 29,225 square foot store to treble its existing space. Due to open in 2026, the shop will be the retailer’s biggest in the region and second largest nationally. With a 63 metre frontage, the store will feature dedicated brand and product areas as well as regular in-store activations to provide an enhanced shopping experience.
James Air, director of group acquisitions at JD, said: “I am absolutely thrilled that we will be delivering one of our largest stores in Europe at Meadowhall. With over 60 metres of frontage in a prime location, I am confident this will be one of our very best stores.”
Meanwhile Superdrug is relocating to a 10,199 square foot unit on Meadowhall’s Lower Level High Street and Ann Summers is upsizing to a 2,854 square foot space, also on the Lower Level.
Never Miss a Retail Update!Richard Crowther, retail leasing director at British Land, said: “Meadowhall continues to attract strategic investment from leading national and international brands.
“JD, Superdrug, and Ann Summers are the latest tenants to recommit to the destination, following 26 retailers that invested over £30 million in their stores in the last 12 months.
“These substantial lease agreements will only elevate Meadowhall’s Lower High Street, as part of a centre that really dominates its region.”
The announcement follows news that Sephora UK has selected Meadowhall for the launch its first store in Yorkshire this summer.
