Let’s do Christmas different

Christmas is meant to be the most wonderful time of the year, filled with celebrations, joy and giving… but let’s face it, working in retail can be a sparkly nightmare consisting of headache inducing chaos that makes you question why you are even in the job.

You’ve got the extra-long shifts and often non-existent lunch breaks. And then there are the customers who start blaming you for things that you have absolutely no control over, for example when you run out of stock in the last week of December.  Or what about the never-ending queues, the Christmas music on an endless loop, the over excited children or just the mess, everywhere!

So, this year as the hustle and bustle of the holidays may very well create stress that fuels the fire of angry customers, let’s just stop, take a pause, and recognise when things are going well. We don’t do that enough.

As it’s the 1st of December, we’re launching #dailyretailgratitude. Throughout December, we want to call out and thank all the unsung heroes on the shop floor. We want to recognise all the good people behind the scenes and across the rich tapestry of our industry.

Have you had a great experience?  Do you work with a super spark?  Share it with us here.

Let’s celebrate the wonderful, the good, the great, the extraordinary.

Share your stories or just name drop. Let’s do it! And, tag in your colleagues encouraging them to do the same. Let’s spread the joy.

In 2023, we look forward to celebrating even further at The People in Retail Awards which will recognise, honour and highlight the very best of people in retail.
