Hammerson appoints Robert Noel as chairman
Shopping centre operator Hammerson has announced that Robert Noel will succeed David Tyler as its non-executive chairman.
With his start date yet to be confirmed, he will join the Hammerson board no later than 1 October. He has extensive experience in the real estate sector and until March worked as chief executive of Landsec.
Noel is currently a senior independent director at Taylor Wimpey and a trustee of the Natural History Museum.
Commenting on his appointment, he said: “I am delighted to be joining Hammerson. The retail property sector is going through a period of unprecedented upheaval, but I look forward very much to helping the company steer through the challenges it is currently facing and capitalise on the significant opportunities ahead.”
Gwyn Burr, senior independent director at Hammerson, added: “Rob brings with him vast experience of the property industry which will help accelerate the board’s ambitions to put the company back onto a stable footing.
Hammerson has also announced that Desmond de Beer has joined its board as a non-executive director. He is currently a non-executive director of Lighthouse Capital which owns a 15.1% stake in Hammerson.
