Hammerson appoints Odeon UK MD as non-executive director

Shopping centre owner Hammerson has appointed Odeon UK managing director Carol Welch as a non-executive director.

She will take up her position on 1 March.

Having commenced her career on a marketing graduate training programme at PepsiCo, Welch progressed to more senior roles in marketing, innovation and business transformation roles at businesses such as Cadbury Schweppes, Associated British Foods and Whitbread.

Before joining Odeon, she was chief marketing officer for Costa Coffee with responsibility for brand communications, digital, in-store design and the loyalty programme.

At Odeon she has introduced a strategy to transform the UK estate and guest experience, including the development of premium offerings.

David Tyler, Hammerson chairman, said: “I am delighted to welcome Carol Welch as a non-executive director. She will bring a valuable occupier perspective as well as a deep understanding of the changing tastes of the UK consumer. We believe that this will allow her to make a significant contribution to our board.”

Welch is also a non-executive director of Digital Cinema Media and a member of the board of the UK Cinema Association.
