Hammerson appoints new non-executive director

Shopping centre owner Hammerson has appointed Adam Metz as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Metz will also become a member of the company’s investment and disposal committee and nomination committee.

Having worked in the US for over 30 years, Metz was previously managing director and head of international real estate at Carlyle Group. His past roles also include chief executive of General Growth Properties and president of Urban Shopping Centres.

David Tyler, chair of Hammerson’s board, said: “I am delighted to welcome Adam who has a strong track record in the sector having held senior roles throughout market cycles. His comprehensive experience in real estate investment and strategy in the US, Europe and Asia, through listed companies and private equity will make a valuable contribution to our board.”

Hammerson’s shopping centre and retail park portfolio includes the likes of Brent Cross, Bullring, Grand Central, Cabot Circus and Centrale.
