Gloucester Quays reports record sales in 2022
The Gloucester Quays outlet and dining destination enjoyed record trading in the nine months to 31 December with sales up 6% on 2021 and 9% on pre-Covid levels three years ago.
Compared to the same same period in 2019, retail sales were up 8% while F&B sales rose by 10.5%.
Gloucester Quays also posted strong Christmas trading figures with sales in December rising by 18% year-on-year. The return of the centre’s Christmas market meant footfall and sales climbed by 8% and and 13% respectively across the seven Saturdays and Sundays before Christmas. Shoppers were also attracted by an open-air ice rink which sold out each day.
Paul Carter, asset director at Peel L&P, said: “The emphasis in the past year has been to evolve Gloucester Quays in a joined-up way, creating a comprehensive offer that not only delivers an all-day experience, but also gives our customers good reason for return visits. These results suggest we are moving in the right direction, and we are now looking to 2023 as an exciting opportunity to continue that evolution for the benefit of the Gloucester Quays community.”
Gloucester Quays signed up new brands such as FatFace and Eden Menswear during 2022. It was also proactive in a number of community-focused initiatives, which included working with charity Pied Piper Appeal on a Toy Appeal for sick and disabled children in Gloucester, and providing space for a foodbank.
