PEOPLE MATTER

Top News: TRB joins forces with the Retail Trust for a memorable partnership

The Retail Bulletin is thrilled to announce an exciting partnership with retail industry charity the Retail Trust for the highly anticipated People in Retail Awards (PIRA) 2023.

The People in Retail Awards serve as a prestigious platform to honour and celebrate exceptional individuals and businesses in the retail sector. Recognising outstanding contributions and exemplary achievements, these awards raise the industry’s standards by highlighting those who have gone above and beyond. They acknowledge the pivotal role played by people, who serve as the heartbeat of any successful organisation, in shaping the retail landscape.

In a momentous collaboration, The Retail Bulletin is proudly supporting the Retail Trust as its chosen charity partner for 2023 for the crucial role it plays in creating hope, health, and happiness throughout the retail industry.

The Retail Trust leads a coalition of people, leaders and more than 200 retailers who are united in creating a healthy, happy and thriving workforce, and provides retail workers across the country with tools and resources to help them take control of their mental, physical and financial health.

As part of its new partnership with the Retail Trust, The Retail Bulletin will contribute a charitable donation based on a percentage of the seat/table purchase price. All proceeds from the silent auction held during the Awards evening will also be donated to the Retail Trust.

Karen, Managing Director of TRB, expressed her delight at supporting the Retail Trust, stating, “We are thrilled to be backing such a worthy cause.”

Last week, the Retail Trust’s latest report into the wellbeing of the retail industry highlighted that retail workers need more support amidst the cost-of-living crisis, with over half admitting that it is impacting their mental health. 36% also said problems with their finances are worsening their already poor mental health and 80% report experiencing deteriorating mental health overall.

Off the back of the findings, the Retail Trust has created a new happiness assessment called ‘better you’ to provide retailers with tailored data, insights and plans to manage wellbeing across their business whilst providing employees with a personalised programme of advice, tips and key actions designed by clinical specialists.

Chris Brook-Carter, CEO of the Retail Trust, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “Too many of our colleagues are continuing to face growing uncertainty around everything from the rising cost-of-living to unacceptable abuse from members of the public, and this is having a real impact on their mental health and wellbeing.

“We couldn’t be more grateful for the vital support of organisations like The Retail Bulletin in our mission to improve the hope, health and happiness of the UK retail workforce. We also know first-hand how many hard-working individuals and businesses work and operate within the retail sector and we’re really looking forward to celebrating some of their successes in this year’s People in Retail Awards.”

The winners of the 2023 awards will be unveiled during an elegant black-tie gala in London on 21st September, promising to be an exceptional evening of recognition, camaraderie, and celebration within the industry.
