ABOUT Ted Baker

Jolly’s to close as Bath’s iconic department store ends an era

Ted Baker was founded by Ray Kelvin in Glasgow, Scotland in 1988.

Ted Baker Company Profile

Ted Baker was founded by Ray Kelvin in Glasgow, Scotland in 1988. The name was Kelvin’s self-styled alter ego who was an ‘intrepid aviator, an all-round sportsman and the consort of princesses and Hollywood beauties’. Within a couple of years, the retailer had stores in Glasgow, Manchester, Nottingham and Covent Garden. From the very beginning the brand has had a clear focus on quality and attention to detail. Ray Kelvin is no longer involved with the brand (but still holds a large share). Other notable people in the business include Rachel Osborne (CEO) and Helena Feltham (Interim Chair). There are many Ted Baker standalone stores across the UK, and also a number of concessions in department stores such as John Lewis and Selfridges. There are also multiple locations in designer outlet parks such as Bicester Village and Cheshire Oaks. Another key part of the business is the wholesale arm which began in 1994 through a careful selection of retail stores, which can be found all across the globe. Ted Baker Products and Services:
