Ted Baker was founded by Ray Kelvin in Glasgow, Scotland in 1988. The name was Kelvin’s self-styled alter ego who was an ‘intrepid aviator, an all-round sportsman and the consort of princesses and Hollywood beauties’. Within a couple of years, the retailer had stores in Glasgow, Manchester, Nottingham and Covent Garden. From the very beginning the brand has had a clear focus on quality and attention to detail.
