Retail IT directors confident about budgets
Senior retail IT directors expect their budgets to stay the same or increase over the next year, as they focus on systems for automatic replenishment and demand forecasting while also driving sales from new online channels and increasing the effectiveness of promotions.
The Global Retailing CIO Survey 2009 involved contributions from IT staff at retailers representing sales of $265bn, or 5 per cent of the total market, and more than 40,000 stores. It covered the North American and EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) regions.
Just over a quarter of respondents (26 per cent) expect their budgets to increase, while 51 per cent expect them to remain at current levels.
Research for the survey was carried out by Martec International. It was sponsored by Aldata and IBM.
