Ikano’s commitment to the community recognised at local awards
Retail finance and loyalty specialist Ikano has won two awards in separate ceremonies in recognition of its commitment to its local community and its people.
The company, which has its headquarters in Nottingham and ranked 65th in the 2013 Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For listing earlier in the year, beat hundreds of other Nottinghamshire businesses to collect the award for Contribution to the Community at the Nottingham Post Business Awards 2013.
Ikano won the award for the very positive impact it has had in the city of Nottingham, where it employs over 250 people – and for its work as a good employer. The business saved the Nottingham Robin Hood Marathon last year with its ongoing sponsorship, and has also contributed to charity and community projects in the local area.
Additionally, the business was also key to Nottingham Academy’s Working in Partnership Award at The Business in the Community (BiTC) East Midlands Responsible Business Awards, with the two organisations working in partnership to help children to gain financial awareness.
Ikano assisted in the development of a financial package used to educate young people about personal finance in an engaging and interactive way. The package will be launched officially this month, along with the Nottingham Academy and several prominent local businesses.
Ikano communications director Sarah Murphy, who leads Ikano’s CSR programme, said: “We have a strong set of business values, which include ‘on fair terms’ and ‘working together’, and these values are as relevant to our local community and our team as they are to our clients.
“It’s important to us that we have won these awards, as we gauge our success partly through measures of our work in the community and we always strive to be a better place to work for our employees.”
Ikano also recently won two awards along with its clients Monsoon and Jaeger at The Loyalty Awards 2013.
