Early Learning Centre launches new mobile website
Toy retailer Early Learning Centre has unveilled a new mobile commerce website. ELC customers will now be able to purchase items using their mobile handsets with access to the full product portfolio.
ELC’s ecommerce website was built last year by Javelin Group on the Demandware platform with complete integration into ELC’s backend systems, including call centre, order management and fulfilment. Javelin then went on to develop the mobile commerce site taking advantage of the in-built capabilities of the ELC platform to deliver a user experience optimised for the Smartphone ‘browser-buyer’ market.
Jas Virdee, executive director at Mothercare PLC which owns ELC, said, “We have already seen an uptake of the site with orders being taken on the first day of our soft launch”.
Earlier this month, Mothercare said it would be focusing more on its online business as it announced the closure of a quarter of its UK stores.
The Retail Bulletin’s Mobile Summit, sponsored by DigiPos is taking place at the Cavendish Conference Centre, London, September 27th 2011. The theme of the Summit is ‘Driving profit, market share and customer engagement through cost-effective mobile strategies’ and already has an impressive speaker line-up.
