[ Download ] The gift card industry – UK NAPCO 2022 Report

NAPCO Research, in conjunction with Blackhawk Network, have conducted a comprehensive State of the Nation evaluation of the gift card programmes of 50 of the biggest UK retailers to help merchants gain accurate insights into their performance.

The gift card industry is growing and becoming more complex, presenting new challenges for retailers. While the market has developed rapidly, there are still many opportunities for the industry to better understand how their customers interact with gift cards and improve their experience. This UK specific report is designed to evaluate expected and emerging capabilities for merchants’ digital and physical gift card offerings through desktop e-commerce/digital, mobile website, mobile app, and brick-and-mortar stores, with a focus on the consumer and recipient experience, as well as the B2B buyer experience.

Enabling merchants to recognise and build on their strengths and improve upon their weaknesses, the report will also help to identify areas for development and differentiation.

This research evaluated 50 brands across more than 169 unique criteria, including:

  • Online consumer purchase and recipient experience of both digital and physical cards (e.g. payment and delivery options, ease of discoverability)
  • B2B e-commerce offerings
  • Personalisation options In-store & Mobile In-store
  • The use of gift cards for marketing initiatives; innovation; and the post-purchase experience
