AWARDS: Sue Ryder scoop best use of technology by a charity retailer accolade

Sue Ryder scoop best use of technology by a charity retailer accolade at Charity Retail Association Awards 2017 with partnership approach driving Success

There was much excitement at the Charity Retail Association Awards when Sue Ryder won the award for Best Use of Technology by a Charity Retailer.

The non-profit charity organisation is in the midst of a major overhaul of its technology infrastructure as they develop into a more complex multichannel operation. Sue Ryder needed to replace its old legacy system with a fit for purpose, up-to-date solution to help them manage their 450-strong retail estate more efficiently with volunteer friendly systems – allowing staff to focus their time on what’s important to them, raising funds to provide care in their hospices, neurological care centres and out in the community.

Led by K3 Retail and supported by strong partnerships delivering an end to end solution designed specifically with the charity’s needs in mind – the Microsoft Dynamics and LS Retail solution is fully managed and cloud enabled, combining K3 Retail’s software solution and K3 Starcom’s hosted service with BMc Azurri’s specialist Gift Aid and IT services together with payments expert Verifone, AGR Dynamics’ inventory management and BI from TargIT.

This technology investment means Sue Ryder will have improved communication across the business and more clarity around pricing – something that can often become overcomplicated for charity stores when stock changes so rapidly from day to day.  Their collaborative partnership approach means they have everything they need to manage their retail estate, in a familiar easy to use Microsoft environment and provide a platform to generate greater revenues from their charity shops.

Katy Faulkner, Sue Ryder Head of Retail Operations, who attended the Charity Retail Awards on Monday, says “We’re thrilled to have won a Charity Retail Award in recognition of our partnership with K3 Retail. Thanks to K3 Retail’s expertise, Sue Ryder’s retail operation, comprising more than 450 shops, will be more responsive, effective and able to adapt to changing trends and sales in the market place. In turn, more money will be raised to support Sue Ryder’s care for people with life-changing conditions.”

John Little, Sales Director at K3 Retail echoed the strong collaboration running through the project, “The recognition from this award is testament to a great team effort between us all.  It is rewarding for everyone to receive this accolade”.

Hear more from Sue Ryder as they take centre stage in the BRC’s Changing face of retail video.  The interview includes insights from Robin Osterley CEO of Charity Research Association and David Borrett, Director of Retail, Marketing and Communications at Sue Ryder. We also hear from the Sue Ryder retail team with an inside view from their Camden store.
