Market Halls to open at Intu Lakeside

Shopping centre operator Intu has signed upmarket food hall business Market Halls for its £72 million leisure extension at Intu Lakeside.

After the opening of two central London sites in Fulham and Victoria last year, Intu Lakeside will be Market Halls’ first out-of-town concept.

Due to launch in the spring, The Hall will offer diners a choice of food from a variety of independent food traders from across the south east and a street-food dining experience as it looks to benefit from the shopping centre’s 20 million annual footfall.

The Hall will occupy 14,500 square feet and will house seven kitchens, a coffee shop, pop-up areas for food trucks, two bars and seating for 680 people.

Market Halls was launched last year by Andy Lewis-Pratt, a former property developer and philanthropist, and Simon Anderson, an award-winning restaurateur. Further openings in London and across the country will be announced in 2019, including Market Hall West End.

Lewis-Pratt said: This is an exciting avenue for Market Halls. The Hall will provide a new and vibrant social dining option for the 20 million visitors to Intu Lakeside every year.”

Family entertainment centre Nickelodeon Adventure and indoor mini golf experience Puttshack are also joining the line-up at the leisure extension. In addition, Hollywood Bowl, Flipout and a range of new restaurants will open their doors there later this year.

Rebecca Ryman, regional managing director at Intu, said: “The Hall at Intu Lakeside is a great fit for the centre’s quality new leisure offer and we know it will flourish here. The calibre of all the brands we’re attracting to the centre’s leisure development is testament to the potential of this new space when it launches later this year.”
