Topps Tiles appoints chair designate

Topps Tiles has appointed Paul Forman as an independent non-executive director and chair designate of the business.

The new follows Topps’ commencement of a chair succession process due to Darren Shapland nearing the end of his maximum term  under the UK Corporate Governance Code.

Due to join the Topps board on 1 July, Forman will succeed Shapland as chair at the start of the company’s new financial year on 1 October, at which point Shapland will retire from the board.

With experience of working in both listed and private equity-backed businesses, Forman is a former chief executive of Essentra, Coats Group and Low & Bonar. He has also previously served as a non-executive director of Brammer and is currently senior independent director at Tate & Lyle.

Shapland said: “I’m delighted that we have secured an individual of Paul’s calibre as chair designate. His strong track record, both as a PLC executive and non-executive, will be of great benefit to Topps as the business builds on its market leadership position and continues to develop and expand in the years ahead.

“Paul will be a strong addition to the Topps team and I look forward to working with him on an orderly handover of responsibilities in the coming months.”
