Screwfix to create over 400 new jobs
Screwfix is to create more than 400 jobs by the end of January 2021 through the opening of 40 new stores across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
Some 30 new shops in the UK will have 300 roles for retail managers, service assistants and supervisors while 10 openings in the Republic of Ireland will create up to 160 jobs over the same period.
The trade retailer has been opening at least 50 stores every year for the past decade, making it one of the fastest growing retailers in the UK. It now has more than 680 stores across the country as it works towards a long-term target of 800. It also has five stores in the Republic of Ireland which opened earlier this year.
Classified as a essential retailer, Screwfix was able to keep its stores open during lockdown.
John Mewett, Screwfix chief executive, said: “The growing demand for convenience means we’re opening more stores to help our busy customers get their jobs done. We know that time is money for our customers and these new stores in the UK and Republic of Ireland will not only enable us to provide our customers with added convenience and certainty, but also allow us to provide even more job opportunities for local communities when they need it most.”
