Oak Furniture Land appoints chief operating officer

Oak Furniture Land has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Alex Fisher as its chief operating officer.

With almost 100 showrooms nationwide, the company is currently expanding by opening an average of one new store per month. It is also planning to launch stores in the US over the next 12 months following the success of its existing online presence there.

The new appointment follows the arrival of Ruth Harrison-Wood as chief marketing officer in November 2017.

Fisher is succeeding Terry King who has now taken up the position of chief executive.

Previously chief executive at Watchshop, Fisher’s previous roles also include working with Tesco, Morrison’s, Clarks and Mothercare.

Jason Bannister, founder and executive chairman of Oak Furniture Land, said: “Alex brings a wealth of multi-channel and international experience which will prepare us for our next phase of rapid growth, and will particularly help strengthen our digital capabilities and overseas opportunities.”
