JYSK celebrates Stockport opening

Danish furniture retailer JYSK has chosen Stockport for the opening of its 23rd store in the UK as it continues to expand across the country.

Spanning 1,200 square metres, the site at Manchester Road Retail Park sells JYSK’s range of furniture and homeware goods.

Mark Armitage, manager of the Stockport store, said: “We are incredibly excited to bring the JYSK brand to Stockport. JYSK’s affordable Scandi-style furniture and homeware along with its extensive range of sleeping products created by experts is becoming infamous in the Greater Manchester area. Stockport is also the home of JYSK’s UK headquarters so this store opening feels even more special. It’s a big moment that signifies how much the JYSK brand has grown.”

In addition to expanding its store presence in the Manchester area, the retailer is supporting local causes by partnering with the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity to help address the issue of rough sleeping and homelessness. Using contactless donation points in-store, customers can opt to make a small donation when paying for their JYSK items to pledge support towards the cause. The partnership will run across all four stores in Stockport, Oldham, Bolton and Bury.

Jenny Johnston, JYSK’s sales and marketing manager for the UK and Ireland, said: “ As a homeware retailer, we and our customers truly understand and value the gratification and comfort that comes with being able to transform our houses into homes. Enormous headway has been made so far in helping to reduce the numbers of those sleeping rough within the city and its suburbs. We are delighted to be able to support the organisation in its efforts to do more to address the issue and enable more people to transition safely to secure accommodation”.

To celebrate the Stockport opening, JYSK will have a selection of store-exclusive offers for local shoppers.
