IKEA to open three new ‘Plan & Order Points’ across the North West

IKEA is to expand across the North West of England with the opening of three new ‘Plan & Order Points’ and the launch of an extended service offering.

The retailer said the area is a key region for its business following the opening of its first UK store in Warrington 30 years ago and a subsequent launch of a store in Ashton-under-Lyne.

In this latest move, IKEA will strengthen its physical presence in the region with ‘Plan & Order Points’ in Aintree, Preston, and Stockport. These will provide customers with a free, bespoke design consultation with experienced IKEA kitchen and bedroom storage experts, although customers will also be able to get help planning any room in their home.

Spanning between 70 and 90 square metres, the units will be situated in retail parks and shopping centres and will showcase around five kitchen and wardrobe solutions.

Marsha Smith, deputy country retail manager, IKEA UK & Ireland, said: “Our investment in the North West is part of our long-term plan to transform our retail business, making it easier for our customers to shop with using a number of convenient ways. With a variety of stores, service offers and digital solutions that complement each other, our aim is to be there for our customers, however they want to meet us.

“Our expert co-workers will be available to help the customers to plan affordable kitchens or bedroom – helping our customers to create a better everyday life at home. We offer a full complement of affordable services including finance, installation and assembly.”

Alongside the new openings, IKEA is also expanding its fulfilment network in the area. Last month, it announced the launch of several ‘Collect near you’ points in selected Tesco carparks which will be in close proximity to the new ‘Plan & Order’ points.
