IKEA collaborates with Tesco on new ‘Collect Near You’ points

IKEA has teamed up with Tesco on a new “test-and-trial” to expand its existing Collect Near You offering.

The move comes as the furniture and homewares retailer looks to provide customers with more “convenient, accessible, and affordable” collection services across the UK.

The first UK Collect Near You service will launch in Blackburn on 10 October and will offer customers the option of collecting an IKEA order from a designated area within their local Tesco car park.

Six further points are planned for Doncaster, Dereham, Stockport, Bolton, Liverpool and Cambridge later this year.

When using the service, customers will go through the usual checkout option then select the Collect Near You service for their local Tesco. When picking up their item, they will follow IKEA click and collect signage within the carparks at their chosen date and time, then meet with a delivery driver who will hand their order over to them.

The retailer is currently trialling the concept in Denmark and Portugal. The UK pilot with Tesco will run for an initial six months, with orders over £200 free to collect and all other orders charged at £10.

Julie Carr, fulfilment and multichannel network manager at IKEA UK & Ireland, said: “We are proud to be collaborating with Tesco to test-and-trial more convenient, accessible, and affordable collection services in the UK across a number of key locations. This collaboration recognises that in an ever-changing retail environment, there is an opportunity to work together to bring IKEA closer to the many people.”
