Homebase re-opens 50 further stores

Homebase has re-opened a further 50 stores today following a successful trial of 20 shop re-openings earlier this week.

Despite being classifed as an essential retailer by the government, the DIY business had previously chosen to close all of its stores during the covid-19 crisis to enable it to change its operations to facilitate social distancing.

Today, Homebase chief executive Damian McGloughlin said: “It has taken a tremendous amount of hard work and commitment from our teams across all parts of the business, to ensure we are ready to safely welcome customers back through our doors. I’m extremely grateful for the dedication shown by every single team member, and to our customers, for the huge support and understanding.”

The retailer’s remaining UK stores will all be re-opened for customers to browse and shop from Saturday 2 May.
