Homebase partners with Tesco on shop-in-shop initiative

Homebase has embarked on a new partnership in which it will launch a shop-in-shop concept in Tesco supermarkets.

The first store will open in Tesco’s Borehamwood shop on 19 March and will be followed by launches in Walkden and Woolwich branches in April.

Homebase said the new stores will stock everything customers need to update, refresh, or completely transform their home or garden. They will also be able to browse kitchen, bathroom and lighting displays to gather inspiration for planning bigger projects.

In addition, the stores will offer a click and collect service where customers can place their orders on the Homebase website and collect their items within an hour.

Damian McGloughlin, chief executive of Homebase, said: “We’re really excited to be partnering with Tesco, bringing our home and garden products and expertise to even more local communities. We’re always looking for ways to make it easier for customers to shop with us and teaming up with Tesco means we’re able to do just that.”

The move follows Homebase’s tie-up with Next, which saw the retailer’s garden centres open in Next stores in Southampton, Norwich, Shoreham, Ipswich, Warrington, Camberley, Bristol and Sheffield last year. Customers have also had the opportunity to combine clothes and garden shopping at three additional pop-ups in North Shields, Solihull and High Wycombe.
