Habitat flagship stores set to close

Sainsbury’s is to close its flagship Habitat shops in London’s Tottenham Court Road and Finchley Road as part of plans to relaunch the homewares retailer in Sainsbury’s and Argos stores.

Meanwhile, Habitat stores in Brighton, Leeds and the Westfield shopping centre are set to become showrooms when Habitat’s new collection launches next year.

Sainsbury’s said Habitat will now become its main home and furniture brand with ranges made available in both Sainsbury’s and Argos stores as well as on the Habitat and Argos websites. A small collection of Habitat items are currently being piloted in Sainsbury’s stores before a wider roll-out starts next spring.
