Eve Sleep hires James Sturrock as chief executive
Eve Sleep has appointed former Moonpig managing director James Sturrock as its chief executive.
In a second hiring, the company has also appointed Nikki Crumpton as a senior non-executive director.
Due to join Eve on 10 September, Sturrock worked with online greeting cards retailer Moonpig from 2014 where he led the company to four consecutive years of double-digit revenue and EBITDA growth.
Prior to that, he worked with Direct Line Group for more than seven years where he held a range of senior divisional and marketing roles before becoming general manager of the commercial direct division in 2012.
Once Sturrock joins Eve, interim chief executive Abid Ismail will continue in his role as chief financial officer of the company.
Paul Pindar, chairman of Eve Sleep, said: “I am delighted that such a high calibre CEO in James is joining the business. His proven experience in leading and developing online companies will be essential in driving eve forward to seize the substantial market opportunity ahead.”
Meanwhile, Eve Sleep said Crumpton will bring significant experience in marketing, advertising and communications strategy development and implementation to the board. Founder of brand and communications consultancy The Active Strategist, her prior roles include senior positions within international agencies such as McCann Worldgroup where she was regional planning director EMEA, and as chief strategy officer for McCann London.
Pindar added: “Nikki’s wealth of marketing and advertising industry knowledge which she brings to the board will be invaluable for our business where brand is absolutely key. Eve has a bright future ahead and with today’s senior leadership appointments I am confident in the company’s long term prospects, and look forward to working closely with both James and Nikki.”
