Eve Sleep appoints new chief executive

Eve Sleep has promoted Cheryl Calverley to the position of chief executive following James Sturrock’s decision to take up a new external role.

Sturrock will leave the business in May but will remain on the Eve Sleep board as a non-executive director.

Having joined Eve Sleep in December 2018, Calverley is currently working as the company’s chief marketing officer. Since that time, she has been credited with increasing brand awareness and marketing efficiency through a brand relaunch and revised marketing strategy.

Prior to taking up her role at Eve Sleep, Calverley worked with a variety of consumer facing companies including Unilever and Birds Eye Iglo. Her most recent role was with The AA where she held the position of marketing director.

In a statement, Sturrock said: “The timing is right to make this transition. The new leadership team has been embedded and proven, the business and all of its processes has been overhauled and right sized and Eve is well advanced on the path to profitability. It is clear to me that I can fully support eve in a non-executive capacity and that Cheryl, as an expert in building consumer brands, is well placed to take Eve forward.”
