Dunelm opens first shopping centre store
Homewares retailer Dunelm has chosen Atria Watford for the opening of its first store in a shopping centre location.
Dunelm’s 182nd store is situated in a unit formerly occupied by John Lewis.
Spanning 33,000 square feet, the shop will stock the retailer’s range of homewares and furniture, including bedding, outdoor living, home accessories, made-to-measure, haberdashery, and kitchen and dining products. It will also offer the retailer’s ‘Conscious Choice’ range of products made from at least 50% recycled materials.
In addition, customers will be able to take advantage of Dunelm’s well established ‘Textile Takeback’ scheme that allows them to return unwanted textile products for recycling or redistribution,
Amanda Cox, stores and people director at Dunelm, said: “Opening a new store and bringing the Dunelm offer to a new community is always good news but the opening of Dunelm in Watford is particularly exciting – this is the first of our stores to be based in a shopping centre, making it very accessible to many new customers. We’re really pleased to be up and running in the area.”
Owned by property company SGS and asset managed by Global Mutual, in conjunction with Savills as property managers, Atria Watford covers 1.4 million square feet and is home to brands such as Zara, M&S, Primark, JD Sports, Apple and Next.
Steve Gray, head of European retail asset management at Global Mutual, said: “Dunelm is a great addition to Atria Watford and we know our customers have been eagerly awaiting the store’s opening today.
“Following a strong year of leasing activity, we are delighted to see the former John Lewis unit reinvigorated – with new brands that diversify our offer – especially as we head into the festive shopping period.”
