Dunelm appoints new non-executive director

Dunelm has appointed Arja Taaveniku as a non-executive director.

Due to join the retailer’s board on 15 February, she will be also be member of the Audit and Risk, Remuneration and Nominations committees.

Taaveniku has extensive retail experience after having worked from 1989 to 2012 with IKEA Group where her most recent role was global business director. Between 2012 and 2015, she was chief executive of Ikano Group and more recently worked with Kingfisher where she was acting chief executive of its subsidiary, Kingfisher International Products.

Taaveniku is currently chair of the board at Svenska Handelsfastigheter AB, and holds non-executive director positions at Nobia Group, Handelsbanken and Mekonomen Group.

Dunelm chairman Andy Harrison said: “I am delighted to welcome Arja to our Board. She brings a breadth of knowledge from international home retail businesses, with specific expertise in the strategic and operational development of customer value propositions and product range development, alongside environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives. This experience will be particularly helpful as we continue to accelerate growth across our total retail system.”
