Dobbies to reopen 12 Scottish garden centres

The Dobbies Garden Centre chain is to reopen 12 stores in Scotland on 29 May.

The news follows updated guidance from the Scottish Government that allows garden centres to open.

Dobbies said Covid-19 safety measures have been introduced in all stores. These include limiting the number of customers in-store at any one time and the installation of protective screens at tills. In addition, staff will be provided with PPE and receive regular training and briefings on how to keep both themselves and customers safe.

However, the retailer’s in-store restaurants and soft play areas will remain temporarily closed.

Graeme Jenkins, chief executive of Dobbies, said: “We welcome this updated guidance from the Scottish Government, enabling us to reopen our 12 stores across Scotland on Friday 29 May.

“We began reopening our other UK stores on Monday 11 May and we have now successfully opened 56 stores across Wales, England and Northern Ireland.

“It has been a very positive start to trading, with customers most interested in buying plants, gardening products and outdoor furniture, as they are keen to spend time in their gardens this spring.”
