Dobbies posts increase in full year sales and profit

Dobbies Garden Centre Group saw its sales increase by 12% to £166 million in the year to 24 February.

On a like-for like basis sales were up 5% while underlying operating profit rose by 35%. There was also an increase in customer basket size of 6%. Some of the best performing categories included plants, gardening and food hall. 

During the year, Dobbies acquired six new garden centres and disposed of two non-core sites

Following the end of the period,  Dobbies bought an additional 31 garden centres to bring its total estate to 69 stores.   

Dobbies chairman Andrew Bracey said: “We are delighted with the continued strong performance with overall sales up 12% and like-for-like sales up 5%. We are also very encouraged by the progress made in our newly-acquired garden centres.

The integration of the new centres is moving at pace and we look forward to providing market leading garden centres for our customers across the length and breadth of the country.”
