DFS names new chairman
Sofa retailer DFS has appointed Ian Durant as its new chairman.
Currently chairman at Greggs and Capital and Counties Properties, Durant has also held non-executive directorships at Home Retail Group and Greene King.
With over 35 years’ experience in retail and logistics, his past roles include finance director at Liberty and group finance director at Thistle Hotels.
DFS chief executive Ian Filby said: “I am delighted to welcome Ian to the DFS Board as chairman. His wealth of relevant experience will help drive us forward and continue the progression from being a great British business to a world-class business.”
Due to take up the role on 2 May, Durant succeeds Richard Baker who announced his intention to step down late last year. At the time Baker said: “It will be two years from DFS’s IPO next spring and it will be a good time to pass on the baton of chairing this great British company.”
