COAT Paints awarded the Positive Luxury Butterfly Mark

COAT Paints proudly becomes the first ever paint brand to be awarded with the Butterfly Mark – a prestigious certification bestowed exclusively to luxury brands who have passed Positive Luxury’s rigorous science-based and expert-led ESG assessments.

Established by Positive Luxury to ensure brands are meeting the highest standards for sustainability, the Butterfly Mark certification has become a globally recognised symbol of real change in luxury.

Joining brands such as Anya Hindmarch, Coco de Mer, and Bamford, COAT Paints had to undergo a comprehensive assessment built on the foundation of international agreements, global frameworks and standards, and even potential upcoming legislation.

The Butterfly Mark is the latest demonstration of a stringent and authentic commitment to sustainability from COAT Paints, who have outperformed the industry since the brand launched in 2020. COAT is B Corp Certified, and has been the world’s first Climate Positive Certified Paint Company through carbon offsetting since day one.

Rob Green, Co-Founder & COO of COAT Paints commented:“Being planet-conscious has been a core principle of COAT’s since the business was born. Not because it’s a hot topic but because sensible people with principles don’t damage the planet”, says Rob Abrahams, Co-Founder & CEO of COAT Paints. “We’re not ones for fads or gimmicks – we just make great paint and give back more to the planet than we take. That’s it.’’

‘’We’re buzzing to be certified with the Butterfly Mark. To be in the company of Positive Luxury’s brand community is humbling; and a proud moment for us to stand against. Alongside our B Corp and Carbon Positive credentials the Butterfly Mark is the next, but certainly not the last demonstration of our commitment to planet consciousness.’’

Rob Abrahams, Co-Founder & CEO of COAT Paints added: “Industry change starts with continuous transparency, not a one off certification. We’re spelling out exactly how we do things at COAT and the decisions we’ve made – so people know who they’re buying from and our industry pals can feel the pressure to level up.”

Amy Nelson-Bennet, Positive Luxury CEO said: “We are delighted to announce COAT Paints has been awarded the Butterfly Mark for meeting higher and higher standards for people and nature. COAT Paints combines luxury high-grade paint with an experience that’s positive for people and the planet. The breadth of their action is impressive: from operating a zero-waste production and closed-loop recycling system, conducting a carbon footprint assessment, and taking responsibility for its scope 1-3 emissions, to partnering with Crisis UK and Hospital Rooms supporting local communities and communicating a clear sustainability purpose to its employees and customers driving a culture of sustainable decision making. COAT Paints is leading the interiors industry through actionable change. Positive Luxury is honoured to be working with and recognise COAT Paints as a Real Changemaker.”
