B&Q to abandon Black Friday this year
B&Q has announced that it will not be participating in Black Friday this year as it focuses instead on offering year-round low prices across its store.
The home improvement retailer said it is sticking with its everyday low prices model that it has been implementing since July with a £100 million investment.
B&Q has recently commissioned a piece of research which found that shoppers trust retailers offering year-round low prices more than those that run frequent sales and occasional offers. It also found that 46% of the shoppers taking part in the survey said they were not planning to shop in this year’s Black Friday sales.
Paul White, commercial director at B&Q, said: “Shoppers have told us they trust stable low prices far more than ‘here today, gone tomorrow’ deals. Our pricing is all part of B&Q’s strategy to help make home improvement more affordable for all customers. This year, over 3,000 new low prices have been introduced for great quality products.”
