B&Q opens new store in Altrincham on former Homebase site
B&Q has opened a new 41,000 square foot store in Altrincham on one of the eight former Homebase locations it acquired earlier this year.
Situated in George Richards Way at Altrincham Retail Park, the store offers more than 16,000 products across DIY and home improvement. The site also includes a fully stocked garden centre featuring outdoor plants and gardening equipment.
In addition, a dedicated TradePoint counter has been added for trade professionals, along with timber cutting and Valspar paint mixing services.
Paddy Earnshaw, B&Q’s retail director, said: ““Today’s opening of B&Q Altrincham is the start of eight new store openings throughout April and May.
Never Miss a Retail Update!“This enables us to deliver on our commitment to make every customer count and brings B&Q and TradePoint’s extensive offer of home improvement products and services to more customers across the UK and Ireland.
“It’s been a fast start to the year and a fantastic effort from teams across the whole business to convert these former-Homebase sites to the B&Q brand and offer so quickly. We’re delighted to now be welcoming our new customers to these stores.”
Prior to the opening, B&Q staff volunteered with The Counselling & Family Centre, a local mental health and well-being charity, as part of the retailer’s Community Days programme.
The volunteers worked to transform the charity’s allotment space by planting new bedding plants, painting a shed, installing a new shed, and paving an area to improve accessibility.
