Bensons for Beds hires chief retail officer

Bensons for Beds has announced that Paul Owen will be joining its leadership team as chief retail officer.

Owen has been working with Magnet since 2020 as director of store operations. Prior to that, he held retail director roles at bed retailer Dreams and jewellery retailer Fraser Hart. He also previously worked with Carphone Warehouse as customer and stores director.

Bensons chief executive Nick Collard said: “Paul is a retailing expert who brings over 30 years’ experience in retail but specifically has a strong history within the high-ticket sector and retail organisations of scale where colleagues are vital to the customer journey.

“Having sat on the operating boards of both Dreams and most recently Magnet, Paul’s wealth of experience will help us further develop our wider customer and colleague proposition as we continue to grow.”

Owen will join the business in early July.

Bensons posted a 9% increase in like-for-like sales in the three months to the end of March following 7% growth in the previous quarter. It also announced plans to invest further in its stores and digital offering.
