Bensons for Beds hails strong sales growth
Bed and mattress retailer Bensons for Beds has posted a 9% increase in second quarter like-for-like sales.
The uplift in the three months to end March builds on the retailer’s 7% rise in the previous three-month period.
Digital sales saw particularly strong growth with an uplift of 32% year-on-year as Bensons continued to invest in its omnichannel capability and leadership.
The retailer said more recent trading across the key Easter weeks had been encouraging.
Bensons for Beds chief executive Nick Collard said: “This has been a quarter of real innovation and pace for the team,” said
“Despite the UK’s economic challenges, it’s clear our investment in our stores, online and in product innovation, is being warmly received by our customers.
“I’d like to thank the team at Bensons for their hard work moving our transformation plans forward at speed over the quarter.
“That momentum means we’re on track to return to deliver our plans for the year.”
Bensons is now working to expand its retail estate over the next two years and will also re-enter markets and open in new catchments as it looks to build a network of up to 200 locations. The retailer has recently opened new stores in Erdington and Peterborough and will be returning to Speke this month with a new shop at the New Mersey Retail Park.
It is also implementing plans to create a sustainable future for its recently acquired Eve Sleep brand, which now has a relaunched website. An exclusive range of the brand’s mattresses has also become available in Bensons’ physical stores.
Backed by Alteri Investors, Bensons became a standalone business in 2020. In 2022, the retailer secured additional funding from Alteri to drive its growth strategy and transformation plans through investment in stores and digital developments.
