Amara appoints first chief technology officer

Amara, the online luxury interiors retailer, has appointed Matthew Butlin to the newly created role of chief technology officer.

With two decades of experience in managing technology, Butlin has specialised in building technological knowledge for high growth businesses throughout his career. He previously held the same position at BerryWorld.

At Amara, he will be responsible for developing the company’s IT strategy and aligning the requirements of the business with the web development and product teams.

Andrew Hood, Amara chief executive, said: “I am delighted to welcome Matthew to Amara. The role of CTO is the final position we needed to fill and to maintain the high double-digit growth we are still experiencing. Matthew brings comprehensive knowledge and experience and will undoubtedly shape our technology strategy over the coming years.”

Founded in 2005 by Hood and his wife Sam, Amara started life as a small interior design studio before expanding to sell luxury interior products. The company now operates websites in 12 countries including the UK.
