The Perfume Shop sells two million bottles of perfume in run-up to Christmas
The Perfume Shop has been celebrating a successful Christmas trading period after it sold two million bottles of perfume between 28 November and 24 December.
The retailer said it experienced a significant last-minute rush, with online sales of gift sets rising by 54% in the final full week before Christmas. The busiest day of the season for online trading was Sunday 1 December when sales were up 5% compared to 2023.
The Perfume Shop benefited from the popularity of its personalisation services in the period, which were up 8% on the previous year. This meant that over 300,000 ribbons and 8,000 engraved perfumes were delivered to customers.
The retailer has continued to reinforce its commitment to sustainability in 2024 by recycling 11,703 perfume bottles to mark a 23% uplift year-on-year. It also introduced its upgraded wooden recycling units across all stores and planted over 49,000 trees through its partnership with Veritree.
In addition, The Perfume Shop unveiled eight new and 32 modernised experiential stores across the UK and Ireland.
Gill Smith, managing director at The Perfume Shop, said: “This Christmas, we continued focusing on helping our customers navigate the festive season by offering incredible early deals and expanding our personalised services.
“Coupled with our ongoing sustainability efforts and exciting new perfume launches, we delivered more choice, value, and innovation than ever before. I’m deeply grateful to our loyal customers and dedicated teams for making 2024 a record-breaking year.”
The retailer’s top 10 selling scents of the festive season included the likes of Dior Sauvage, Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, Carolina Herrera Good Girl, Bleu De Chanel, YSL Black Opium and Chanel No 5.
