The Perfume Shop reports strong sales in run-up to Christmas

The Perfume Shop has said it sold 1.9 million bottles of scent in the month leading up to Christmas.

It has also revealed its biggest-selling scents of 2021 which include the likes of Dior Sauvage, Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, Paco Rabanne Phantom, Gucci Flora and Jimmy Choo I Want Choo.

With customers beginning their Christmas shopping earlier than usual last year with many starting at the beginning of October, the retailer saw its total company retail sales rise by 29% between October and December compared to the same period in 2019. With rumours of shortages and potential lockdowns, Christmas gift sets flew off the shelves with the retailer reporting 7% more gift set sales overall compared to 2020.

Meanwhile, The Perfume Shop achieved particularly strong sales in the week before Christmas when it took 27% of pre-Christmas sales.

Andrea Rickard, The Perfume Shop’s trading director, said  “Customers have had another tumultuous year, but the gift of perfume is proving to hit the right note for friends and loved ones to share the love this Christmas.  The personal memories evoked from a perfume and the feel-good spritz of a scent continue to make it a popular choice.  We’d like to thank all our customers for their support and we’re looking forward to celebrating our 30th birthday with them next year.”

The retailer’s top ten bestselling scents of 2021 were:

  1. Dior Sauvage
  2. Chanel Coco Mademoiselle
  3. Paco Rabanne 1 Million
  4. Boss Bottled Night
  5. Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia
  6. Emporio Armani Diamonds for Women
  7. Bleu de Chanel Parfum
  8. Paco Rabanne Phantom
  9. Jimmy Choo I Want Choo
  10. Jimmy Choo Flash
