The Perfume Shop enjoys record fragrance sales in lead up to Christmas

The Perfume Shop has revealed that it sold a record 1.77 million bottles of perfumes in the lead up to Christmas despite the impact of cold weather and train strikes.

In the period running from 28 November to 24 December, the retailer’s best selling scents were Dior Sauvage, Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel, and Alien perfumes by Thierry Mugler.

The Perfume Shop also saw sales of gift sets climb by 26% in the week before Christmas. According to The Times, its busiest online shopping day was Sunday 11 December when orders were up by 39% on peak trading last year.

Founded in 1992, the retailer is part of AS Watson Group, which also owns Superdrug. It currently operates 215 stores in the UK and Ireland.
