Superdrug removes VAT cost from Own Brand sexual health products

Leading high street healthcare retailer Superdrug has removed the VAT from its Own Brand sexual health product portfolio, in a move to help support the sexual health of the nation.

The reduction in price, which is the equivalent of VAT, sees a selection of Superdrug’s Own Brand condoms and lubes being reduced, with the retailer “cutting the cost, not the fun.” The move sees Own Brand Condoms x 12s, including Extra Sure, Ultra Thin and Ribs & Dots, from as little as £5.59 and Own Brand Lube now £3.19.

Jamie Archer, Superdrug’s Own Brand Director comments, “As a leading health and beauty retailer, we believe that everyone should have access to products that support their sexual health, at an affordable price. Sexual health has always been an important retail category for us, both from a product and sexual healthcare services perspective, to ensure our customers feel supported and ultimately can have fun, whilst staying safe.”

This is the latest initiative from Superdrug to support its customers with the rise of cost of living. In July 2024, the health and beauty retailer reduced the prices of common household pain relief products, such as aspirin and ibuprofen. Earlier this year, Superdrug removed the VAT from its Own Brand suncare range, for the second year in a row.

The price cuts are part of Superdrug’s ‘Reclaim the Name’ sexual health literacy campaign which is encouraging people to advocate for their own sexual health and wellbeing and improve access to important sexual health information, products and services.
