Superdrug celebrates ‘best Christmas ever’
Superdrug has delivered its ‘best Christmas ever’ with like-for-like sales rising by 5.1% in the six weeks to 4 January.
The health and beauty retailer said trading in the period was particularly boosted by the popularity of its own brand range.
Superdrug saw significant growth in online shopping in the period with sales up 21% year-on-year. Looking at stores, the best performing sites were in retail parks where the retailer said it can offer a more engaging and expansive retail experience due to the shops’ larger size.
One gift set was sold every second throughout December as four new Superdrug own brand ranges were added, contributing to record demand. Own brand top sellers included the Studio London Ultimate Brush Collection, the Vitamin E Complete Daily Skincare Set, Extracts Body Bumper Pack and the Fruity Candyfloss Bumper Pack.
