Superdrug boosted by consistent rise in footfall in run-up to Christmas
Superdrug grew its Christmas like-for-like sales by 16% over the five weeks to 31 December after seeing a consistent rise in footfall in its shops.
The health and beauty retailer has been investing in its in-store experience with the opening of 11 new best-in-class shops in 2022 and the refurbishment of a further 59 stores. It also launched one of its largest Beauty Studios at Rushden Lakes in early December.
The retailer said sales were particularly strong in the fragrance and cosmetic categories, which recorded their biggest ever sales week in the seven days before Christmas.
Superdrug chief executive Peter Macnab said: “We are delighted to say that we had a tremendous Christmas at Superdrug. Our commitment to accessibility means that customers continue to come to us for the very best in high street value, at a time when affordability really matters.
“Our continued investment in stores, market-leading digital progression and innovation in own brand has driven increased sales and market share growth. I’d like to thank all of my colleagues for all of their hard work in bringing such a fantastic and competitive offering to shoppers.”
